Abstract
With open trial the authors studied the therapeutic effect of Fluoxetine in obsessive compulsive disorder. The subjects were 7 males and 2 females. Average age of 39.1¡¾15.0 Total duration of treatment were 4 weeks. And by using Yale-Brown
Obsessive-Compulsive Scale (YBOCS) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HDS) at the beginning and at the end of treatment each and Clinical Global lmpression scale (CGl) after the completion of treatment, we assessed the therapeutic effect on obsessive
compulsive disorder and the relationship of this with the therapeutic effect on depressive symptoms. We also evaluated the time latency of the therapeutic effect and the side effects of the drug. The results were as follows.
1) Tour cases our of 9 showed significant therapeutic responses and even in the remaining nonresponders only 2 cases showed no response at all.
2) In 4 responders therapeutic responses emerged in 2 week in 3 cases. And in 4 weeks in 1 case.
3) None of the 9 subjects with or without response suffered from drug side effects.
4) Amelioration in obsessive compulsive symptoms correlated with improvement in depressive symptoms significantly.
